Door Stopper

The other night I gave the girls their baths and after I got Sophie all cleaned up and dried, dressed and done, I set her down on the floor in the girl's room while I finished with Sydney. I started hearing the most adorable giggling! Oh my goodness it was sooo cute! I looked around the corner of the bathroom right into the girl's room and saw Sophie playing with the door stopper, pulling it to where it would twing and rattle and stop, then she would pull it again. It was the most amusing thing to her and she discovered it all on her own, which made finding her giggling like that all the more funny. I grabbed my camera and took a video of it.

Sydney had a friend over the other day while her parents were working on their new house they just bought. So I offered to watch her so they could get more done. We only have one car and since Gabe was at work and I couldn't go over to help them and bring the girls with me, I just offered for them to drop Macy off and have her play at our house so they could get more done. Its a beautiful little house and I am totally envious of the the stage they are in, being able to buy a home. Every couples dream I think. But of course the wait time and restraint and learning and saving stage is I think important and I am glad to still be in that stage. There is soo much I still need to learn and develop when it comes to budgets and saving and all that and I am learning a lot. Buut, how fun it will be to paint the walls the colors I want, decide if I want hardwood or carpet, decorate how I want, do the landscaping I want without asking approval or having to answer to someone else. Not a huge fan of HOA's but I may decide differently when we buy a house. Who knows? Like I said, I still have a lot to learn on the house buying front.
Thats why we have pinterest right? To dream and pin what we one day would like to have.

Sydney started potty training yesterday. Lets say we have had two successful number 1's and the floor or underwear she is wearing, or both, have won the rest. But she has been asking to sit on the potty a lot, and knows how to get up and down on it by herself with her little stepping stool she has, and she at least will sit on it. I think the score is Wins: 2 Loses: 9 so far in the last 24 hours. She had a diaper on at night and during her naptime. I don't know if that is what I am supposed to do but I don't want to deal with having to clean up a mattress since we might have to give that one to Celia when she comes home in August. Not sure yet. So I'm taking all possible routes to keep it clean. I think we need a plastic cover no matter what though. But we will be buying either a new mattress for us or for Sydney come the end of the month.

We have been incredibly blessed with work this Summer. As many of you know, Summer work is not in Gabe's contract, although his company would find it for him, but we would be traveling all summer if he did take it. He works a full years salary during the school year. So Gabe finds his own work at Nursing Facilities or Homes and we have been blessed with hours, sometimes more than what we "want" but the Lord knows that we need it and we are willing to do them. I have also worked a week and a half at Dr Blatter's office already, filling in when I am needed and luckily those hours have come when Gabe's schedule isn't as busy as it can be. This past week Gabe has been working 10 hour days. I have a week coming up where I'll be filling in again for my friend at Dr Blatter's. Its been nice to have a little bit extra $$ so we can take a couple days off at the end of Summer before school starts again to go to Tahoe with Kiel and Melissa for a  couple days with the kids.

A Little Sun

Its been warm enough to fill up our little kiddie pool and have some fun in the sun this past week! Sydney loves it! I usually just put my feet in and soak up a little sun myself while she plays.

4th of July Weekend

Is it hot outside or what!?
We have been having a really hot spell this past weekend. Saturday was in the 90s and I dreaded going outside with Sydney because I was getting so hot taking her on walks. Plus the heat just seems to be so draining. Is it just me?
Sunday was over 100 degrees and we went to a potluck for family friend and her family. We didn't stay long, because it was Sydney who was sweating and looking a little pink, even though we were under a tent. I felt so bad for her in the car. Our car gets cool but not fast enough, and she was sitting in her warm car seat the whole ride of course. I can only imagine it feeling like sitting on a wool seat cover while driving in the car when its over 100 outside, sweating and trying to not stick to the seat. Poor thing. Her little cheeks were so pink when we got home, from being really hot. And she kept guzzling down all her water in her cup. I was almost concerned of her over heating. But she was fine. It was very cool inside the house and she was running around and cooled off in a matter of minutes when we got home.
Monday, Fourth of July, we had a BBQ here with my parents and grandmother. Great food. Potatoes, steak, fruit, corn on the cob, rolls. It was good and I think Sydney enjoyed her nap while we all ate... at the same time. It was nice. Then we went to another BBQ at a friend's parents house. It was a lot of fun. I thought about bringing towels and some ice packs for Sydney on the car ride. I put the towels on her seat so she wouldn't have her skin directly on the hot seat, and I had some small ice packs to go on the sides of her. It worked like a charm. She stayed cool the entire half hour ride. She loved the dog our friends have and was giggling every time she saw him.
Today, Omi came home with a little gift for Sydney... a little kiddie pool! Look how excited she is in her little bathing suit!

She LOVES the water, as long as she is not sitting in it most of the time, or as long as it is not in her face.

Summer Begins!

It has been a while since the last update. We moved so I misplaced my camera cord and I finally found it yesterday. So sit back and relax because this post will have lots of pictures, mainly of Sydney, and videos and commentary!

Here is Sydney on her new little potty. She actually likes sitting on the potty and has gone successfully the last several time we have sat her on it. She also likes reading her books. So why not while on the pot?

Sydney wanted to help out during the move.

We went to my sister Shelley's house for Memorial Day Weekend and it was lots of fun, but hot! I couldn't sleep that first night cuz I was burning up. But Sydney had fun with all the cousins and on the road trip down there. She did really well for 7-8 hours in the car. Here we are at a gas station stopping for a little while to stretch our legs.
Omi and Sydney walking on the grass.
Sydney loves relaxing on someone while drinking. She sure has some chunky legs!

Sydney got to go on a wagon ride down the street with Uncle Steve!

(I'll keep trying to post it but its having difficulties)
And here are my two favorite people taking a nap on the way home. I do have to say, sleeping in the backseat sure is easier when you have Sydney's car seat to lean on.
Sydney sitting in the front seat while we were filling up the car. She loved it.
This past week we found out that Sydney LOVES cream cheese. She gets that from daddy because I can't stand the stuff.
 Say... cheese?
And of course she loves pasta with sauce!
And she recently has started eat celery!
Since it has started to get hotter outside, we finally got to use her cute swimsuit that Auntie Melissa and Uncle Kiel gave to her for her birthday!
Look how excited she is!
Playing with the duckies in the bucket.
And of course looking so cute!
Her diaper was getting pretty soaked so we decided to take it off. Problem was her little booty didn't fill out the bottom part of the bathing suit after that.
Trying her hardest to keep it modest!
A little video of our fun in the backyard!
She is soo cute. She has started doing this sigh of relief after she drinks water. See if you can catch it in the video.
(This video also is having problems =( I'll get it up soon)

Its Father's Day! So Happy Father's Day to all your Father's and future fathers. I am especially grateful for my husband who cares for me and thinks of me always before himself, who provides for my needs and Sydney's. I hope he can say the same for me. I am grateful for my dad who taught me many things while I was growing up and many of those lessons I am starting to appreciate more as a parents. You both are good men. And I am grateful for Gabe's parents, especially his father, for teaching him and being an example to him of what a father should be, and can be!Love you guys! And I am grateful this day for my Heavely Father who has given me all that I have and helped me to be who I am today.

And on an end note, Sydney was eating a banana and necterine quite messily this afternoon, stuffing everything she has on her plate into her mouth, and Gabe and I and Mom were talking about some of the ways Sydney resembles Gabe and I. Sydney has Gabe's eyes, but the shape of my eyes. Sydney has my hair color almost but the wavy/curlyness of Gabe's, I think she has Gabe's lips or a blend of ours, and then Gabe said, "And she eats like you.".... Thanks Gabe.
