4th of July Weekend

Is it hot outside or what!?
We have been having a really hot spell this past weekend. Saturday was in the 90s and I dreaded going outside with Sydney because I was getting so hot taking her on walks. Plus the heat just seems to be so draining. Is it just me?
Sunday was over 100 degrees and we went to a potluck for family friend and her family. We didn't stay long, because it was Sydney who was sweating and looking a little pink, even though we were under a tent. I felt so bad for her in the car. Our car gets cool but not fast enough, and she was sitting in her warm car seat the whole ride of course. I can only imagine it feeling like sitting on a wool seat cover while driving in the car when its over 100 outside, sweating and trying to not stick to the seat. Poor thing. Her little cheeks were so pink when we got home, from being really hot. And she kept guzzling down all her water in her cup. I was almost concerned of her over heating. But she was fine. It was very cool inside the house and she was running around and cooled off in a matter of minutes when we got home.
Monday, Fourth of July, we had a BBQ here with my parents and grandmother. Great food. Potatoes, steak, fruit, corn on the cob, rolls. It was good and I think Sydney enjoyed her nap while we all ate... at the same time. It was nice. Then we went to another BBQ at a friend's parents house. It was a lot of fun. I thought about bringing towels and some ice packs for Sydney on the car ride. I put the towels on her seat so she wouldn't have her skin directly on the hot seat, and I had some small ice packs to go on the sides of her. It worked like a charm. She stayed cool the entire half hour ride. She loved the dog our friends have and was giggling every time she saw him.
Today, Omi came home with a little gift for Sydney... a little kiddie pool! Look how excited she is in her little bathing suit!

She LOVES the water, as long as she is not sitting in it most of the time, or as long as it is not in her face.

Cute! We need one of those pools. But I think you need to get her some swimming diapers! haha!

Geez, over 100 degrees? I think I would die. I'm cooking when it's 84 over here.

Where did you guys get her swimsuit?? I think we need to get Logan a cool one like that - boyish of course, non-speedo bottoms. She's so cute :) It's been in the 90s here for like 2 weeks now!

Brigitte - we got that suit at Kohls. Have you seen Bruce's suit with the sharks? It's a surfer shirt with trunk shorts. I originally bought sydney's suit because she was going to be here and go to the beach alot and I wanted her to be protected from the sun. But now I think she needs a cooler swimsuit in that bay area heat.

Anyway, you might be able to find them at Walmart and Target as well. Let me know if you can't find them with the shirt and trunks and I can pick you up one here.

She is so precious! I love how she can say "duckies." Also "no"... they learn that one fast.
