Sydney
I moved the crib out of Sydney's room. I know I had just converted it into a toddler bed for her, and she was doing really well with staying in her bed, but she is now 30 lbs and I think was getting a little heavy for that little mattress. The full mattress and box spring were already in her room, so I just decided to bite the bullet and move her onto that bed once and for all. We weren't getting the best sleep with Sophie in our room anyway, so I thought while I was already sleep deprived, I might as well get the inevitable changes in Sydney's sleeping arrangement over with. And while I was at it, I threw away her pacifier.
Needless to say that first night she did.. okay. The second, a whole lot better. The third, not so good. A week went by and she is now pacifier free and sleeping on a regular mattress. Next task... potty training.
Sydney also caught some sort of bug this past week. We have no idea from where, but we tried our hardest to keep it contained to just her. I got it, then Gabe sort of got it, now it looks as though Sophie is getting congested also.
Sydney also got an early birthday gift from Omi and Opa. She got a couple shirts from Kohls and an outdoor ball, like those kick balls from elementary school. She loves them. Our little girl turns 2 this Saturday. Can you believe it??
Sophie
Like I said, Sophie is starting to get congested also. She also is smiling all the time whenever she sees me and when others talk to her. She coos all the time and even sings along with me when I sing to her, although my voice has been pretty much gone all week, so she sings along with my voice that sounds like a 14 year old boy's changing pitch all the time. She discovered her yummy hands this past week or two and loves sucking on them. I can't understand why it tastes soo good with all that baby jam fuzz stuck in the cracks and in between her fingers. I swear I have to clean her hands out every day and de-fuzz them. She loves her jungle gym toy and her swing. Her insurance finally kicked in so now I ca take her to a Dr appointment to get her measurements soon. She is soo big already. She wears 6 month sleepers and 3-6 month regular clothes now. Sophie also has slept 7 hours through the night these past two nights and it has made a world of difference in our stamina throughout the day.
Gabe
Gabe works soo hard. I sometimes feel like I am asking soo much of him when he comes home and I need help with the kids. I wish I could just say, "hey, you go take a nap. You've had a long day." But he just jumps right in with helping me when he gets home. Luckily we have Sundays where we can all take a nap after church. The girls seem to take long afternoon naps on Sundays at the same time!! Woohoo!
Gabe is out with the Missionaries often and now we have 3 missionaries in our ward. Gabe also has bee trying to get more extra hours at nursing facilities but the census' are low so they haven't been needing him as much. We are crossing our fingers they will have hours for him for this Summer like they did last Summer. Gabe has loved being able to watch Soccer these past couple weeks and is bummed that we won't be keeping our cable, but its for the best. We just don't need it. He did however get a new phone plan because the phone carrier he was with before wasn't connecting some of our calls or even texts. Some of Gabe's coworkers weren't able to reach him or heard a response their voice mails, so we needed to get him a different plan. Word of advice. Don't even give MetroPCS a try. Its not worth it. Gabe has really enjoyed taking Sydney out in the backpack on hikes around Mt Diablo and I was able to go with them last week for the first time, while carrying Sophie in the baby carrier. It was a really nice evening, a little chilly, but really nice.
Me
Well, the things that are at the foremost part of my mind lately are; losing the rest of the baby weight, getting back into shape, other than pear shaped, being a good mom, making sure the house is in order, and trying to get enough sleep while I try to kick this cough, which I'm sure is bronchitis. I feel like all I do all day is put a movie on for Sydney while I take care Sophie, then try to sleep the rest of the movie while Sophie sleeps and Sydney is occupied in front of the TV. Play with Sydney for a little while in the backyard and in her room while Sophie is asleep or in her swing by the back door, give the girls baths as often as I can, or as often as I can remember to. Try to get laundry done... all of it. Make, something to eat, which doesn't usually happen every day. I do eat, just not at consistant times every day. I think I have said I will make bread every day this past week, but just haven't made the time to do it. Usually its a choice between making bread or lying down and the couch always wins. Now that Sophie is starting to sleep longer at nights, I am pretty confident that life should return to the normalcy it was before she arrived, however normal that was.
I feel pretty good about myself now... I at least updated the blog.
