We had our Stake Women's Conference last night and our little women's singing group sang. We started singing this song months ago not knowing really where we would perform it. And last night we did. There are seven women and there were seven parts. Acapella. I was the top most part the entire time. The melody. I also sang a duet with my friend Andrea in the middle of the song. Its a very sweet and beautiful song. I think after all that practicing and time we had put into, I started to actually feel like I was understanding the song during our practice before the performance and I was getting a little emotional. The words are wonderful. If you care to listen, read the words along with it below the video. (This isn't the best recording since it was taken with a small digital camera)
How Can I Keep From Singing? My Life flows on in endless song,
above earths lamentations.
I hear the real though far off hymn,
that hails a new creation.
Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear the music ringing.
It sounds an echo in my soul,
How can I keep from singing?
2nd verse
What if my joy and comforts die?
The Lord and Savior liveth.
What tho the darkness gather round,
songs in the night He giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm
while to the refuge clinging.
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?
3rd verse
I lift mine eyes, the clouds grow thin,
I see the blue above it.
And day by day the pathway smooths,
since first I learned to love it.
The piece of Christ makes fresh my heart,
a fountain ever springing.
All things are mine since I am His,
How can I keep from singing?
How can I keep from singing?
