I finished "The Hunger Games".

Easy read. Nothing straining to understand. I found the level of the writing to be geared towards young adults... 8th grade maybe. But in no way would I let my any 8th grader read this book. Quite honestly, yes it was entertaining to a point and it had a cute little love story, if you can call it that, but it was quite frankly down right brutal. I didn't find anything uplifting in it. Maybe in the beginning before the Games there were some signs of friendship and loyalty and unexpected admiration, but it was vain and bloody, not something I would want my child to be reading, unless they were grown and my age and could come to the same or their own conclusions without painting it with any kind of reality.
I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it at times. It had its moments. Hopefully the next book with shine a little brighter than this one. Anyone else read these and come to a different conclusion? I dunno maybe its just me and I like books that strain my brain a little bit to improve in my reading comprehension. I guess once in a while its nice to take a break and read something quick and easy. It took me a couple hours altogether to read this book. So I guess I would recommend it if you are looking for something quick, something easy to read in a day. If you want something that will improve your mind, probably not the book you want.

I recently read Little Women, Little Men, and Jo's Boys. I recommend reading them again if you haven't already. I was just reading them for fun but realized they have great advice for raising kids and understanding others. I don't remember that from when I read them before. I guess I have a different perspective now. They aren't difficult reads and sometimes they aren't all that exciting but they give you lots to think about.
I also loved Jane Eyre.
I read all the hunger games books, finished the third while on my trip. Easy reads, yes a little brutal and just a different take on the world. But i don't think it's supposed to be mentally shattering. I liked the rest of the books. They had a little more morality in them.
