Beach Trip

Friday we went to the Beach with my mom, sister Celia, and Melissa and Bruce. It was a lot fun. We drove about 2 hours to get to Sunset Beach.
It was overcast but still a nice day and not really all that cold at all. Sydney of course had fun for the time that she was awake. She actually fell asleep for a good portion of the time that we were there.

Gabe and I had planned to go in the water but it was freezing cold when you first step in.
While Gabe was napping, next to Sydney who was also napping, Melissa, Celia and I went down to put our feet in the water and I noticed when the water receded that there were things flipping up out of the water. I made the connection with Sand Dollars and there had to be hundreds of them. So every time the water went out, we would watch and run to where a sand dollar had flipped up out of the water and try to get it before the next wave came in. A couple times I got caught by the wave and my shorts got quite wet. Melissa on the other hand got caught by a huge wave and fell right in fully clothed. Poor Melissa, I can't think of anything more uncomfortable than walking around in drenched, sand covered, salty clothing. Luckily I had brought two outfits so she was able to wear something dry on the way home. At least we got about 10 Sand Dollars and brought a couple home.
There was a HUGE flock of birds that flew by at one point. I have never seen so many birds in one place at one time before. It was like one of those things you see on National Geographic on Bird Migration or something. It was kinda spectacular.
